Ghosts in the Machine is an AI news wire about models, companies, research, policy fights, security failures, jobs, money and the strange consequences of artificial intelligence moving into daily life. It is published under the accountable public identity Ghosts in the Machine.
How the publication works
Automated tools monitor a maintained mix of primary sources and established reporting, apply mechanical freshness and article checks, and preserve source evidence. A language model working under versioned editorial rules ranks the full candidate pool, selects and places stories, and writes the page. Deterministic scripts validate required fields and presentation limits, render the page, archive editions and publish approved outputs.
The publisher defines the editorial policy, approves material changes to that policy, and reviews output and evaluation evidence. Scheduled editions are automated and are not individually reviewed or approved by a person before publication.
Sourcing and editorial independence
Links go to the underlying reporting whenever possible. Consequential claims are checked against available reporting and primary evidence. Company and government announcements can establish facts they control, but they do not determine the framing; independent reporting supplies context, consequence and contention.
There is no paid or sponsored story placement, personalized feed, infinite scroll or “For You” ranking.
AI and audio
Language models are used in research support, selection, writing and production. The daily podcast is generated from an editorial brief and underlying sources using AI audio tools. AI output can be wrong. The written page and linked sources are authoritative, subject to the corrections policy below.
Ownership, funding and conflicts
Ghosts in the Machine is independently owned, operated and self-funded by its publisher. It currently accepts no advertising, sponsorship, affiliate payments or paid placement.
If that changes, this page and any affected material will be updated so readers can identify the relationship.

Report a possible error to [email protected]. Please include the page, headline and evidence supporting the correction.
- Factual errors are corrected on the current page and permanent Daily Edition when applicable.
- A material correction receives a dated note and an entry in the correction log below.
- Frozen intraday editions remain unchanged as the publication’s audit trail. If a correction affects one, the log identifies the edition and points readers to the corrected permanent page.
- Typographical, formatting and broken-navigation fixes that do not alter meaning may be made without a correction note.

Privacy
Ghosts in the Machine currently uses no first-party analytics, tracking pixels, advertising identifiers, cookies, local storage, reader accounts or personalized profiles. Ordinary web-server logs may contain technical request information needed to operate and secure the site.
Some story images are loaded directly from the publishers that host them. Those publishers receive the ordinary request information needed to deliver the image, such as an IP address, browser information and referring page. Following an external story, podcast-directory or source link places the visit under that service’s own privacy practices.
